Film Archive

JD Centre of Art has more than 2,000 films on art in the collection and about 1,000 hours of archival audio and video recording on tribal and folk culture of Odisha. A selection of films on art are presented at the annual Film Festival on Art & Artists.

The film archive also has a collection of U-matic and Beta tapes donated by the founding trustee, Biren Das, a film maker who directed one of the most popular TV programmes "Ajira Orissa" showcasing the cultural life of Odisha in 1990s. A selection of tapes has been digitized through the collaboration with National Cultural Audiovisual Archive, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, New Delhi, India.

The archive also has over 221 recordings of the permanent in-house programme, Meet The Artist (MTA) lecture series, a monthly programme which has run uninterruptedly since September 2001.
